Santa Eulalia

20 min north of Ibiza Town you will find a peaceful town called Santa Eulalia. It is third largest resort in Ibiza and it is a family friendly place where you wont meet parties like in Ibiza center or Playa den Bossa. The town is full of nice shops and boutiques and offers great variety of restaurants. I will present you three of them below. A beautiful marina is full of nice little yates including rent yates from Sunseeker.

Tavernetta
It is the first restaurant I have tried in Santa Eulalia. You find it at Santa Eulalia's port. A family from Milan runs the place and they also work there so some will have a chance to chat with the husband and others with his wife while they are serving you. I chose the "menu of the day" which is very popular here in Ibiza during day time. You than have a very good offer with 2 courses and a desert. The food was good and it was lot's of it so prepare for a big meal! I had risotto with clams, tuna with potatoes (a kind of ragout), a coconut panacota and a sandwich before the menu which didn't include in menu but I got it anyway, as well as nuts and olives. Service, food and interaction with customers was great and I recommend to visit this place. The "menu of the day" costs 12 euros otherwise there prices are between 15 and 25 euros a dish.


Can Cosmi
Super friendly restaurant with nice lounge, garden and open kitchen. You can talk to chef which is very common. It is located a bit little from the port, from all the crowedy places but is very easy to find.



Kathmandu
An Indian restaurant wish stylish decor and tasty food which is served in 10 minutes. Starters are served within 5 minuts. I liked it a lot because I didn't have to wait very long for the food which is common in Indian restaurants in other countries. The restaurant is opened 365 days a year from 12 to 24 every day and is located on "street of restaurants". 


 

Agua Blancas

Another gorgeous beach experience! This time in North-West of the Island. The Agua Blancas beach is a 300m long beach with warm sand and some smaller rocks in the sea. The view is on the wild smaller islands and one private island which I heard is possible to rent.

This beach is official nude beach (don't really understand why this one should be official, so far every beach I visited is nude, except for the tourist places). The water is amazing turquoise and sand is clean and soft. It's only the beginning of May but the sand gets really hot so wear sandals. Another thing that you should be aware of is jellyfish. The amount of them depend on the day but there were some brown and purple ones and we had to watch ourselves from nasty stings.

So far it is not crowdy at all and you can almost feel some privacy. There were one coffee shop open without a wc. They serve sandwiches, coffee, beer and interact in English which made me notice that all the clients at the shop were tourists. The locals were rolling in the sand and passing out naked under the hot sun.

Touched the Pacha

Now I've finally got to most legendary club on the island - Pacha! We started evening with drinks in town and local club Aramon where you here commercial hits and good mix of local people. A place where locals go during the whole year. It opens yearly and is full at 2 am. After 4 am, and not earlier, all people are moving further clubbing for example to Pacha which is quite near and also stays open during the year.

I myself prefer go earlier, around 2 am, but here in Ibiza there is another time measurement. Quite tired we went over to Pacha at 5 am. I was really reconsidering to go home to sleep but my Ibiza friends dragged (me of course) in to the club. As soon as we walked in I felt desire and lust for dancing. The club was packed! Remember that the season has not started yet and there are no big DJ names playing. The crowed was well warmed up and I was passing by everyone from young Europeans to posh people in white suites, dancers, freaks, people who dressed up having a masquerade and every possible persona you can imagine. "So Ibiza!" - was my though! We went through the whole club. First to the famous terrace where you can chill out flirting with beautiful people, than to little Pacha which is called "Pachacha" (if I remember correct) where you get R'n'B and girls dancing wildly against the mirrors, and at last the main floor. And what A freak show there was! The club hosting that night was "La Troya". There were gorgeous girls in burlesque costumes and nude breasts, fat and short little men with moustache, transvestites singing in a mic, shemales with dreads and other performers. I kind of stepped in to "Alice in wonderland" and started to dance as soon as I saw and herd them.The music was amazing! Don't know who the DJ was but he rocked the floor! After the freak show the public filled the scene and as I was leaving the club at 6 am it felt like the party was never going to end.   

Paddle tennis

Today I have experienced new sport. Paddle tennis. The sport comes from North America and plays in North and South America and Spain. The court is smaller than in tennis and you have glass walls around you (also reminds of squash). We've played in Playa den Bossa, just in front of club Space. Very easy to find. Paddle is very popular here and you can easily find a sport club for paddle. I think we paid around 10 euros for 3 hours which is a very good price for such a nice activity.

 

Atlantis

Nature on Ibiza is mind blowing. Why? Because here you have the most beautiful mixes in the world: sea, sun and mountains. Today my new Spanish friend showed me a place called Atlantis, south-west coast. We went there by car, and later by foot, for a long long way of climbing on the rocks and sand to reach the sea. Hard to access the place and therefore no one is there besides nude hippies. It was a sweaty journey but it was worth it! Well at the end of destination a crystal clear sea was waiting accompanied by sun.

Took about 20 min by car (from Ibiza Town) to reach the first point and than 25 minutes to get down to the water. You get really sweaty! Put your bathing suits before you start to walk down and make sure you wear good shoes with rubber sole. Bring water and food and you'll have a very nice picnic.

Easter Celebrations

Ibiza had big Easter celebration. There were celebrations in different places during whole Easter weekend.

I went to a small town called San Jordi, near the airport, to participate in major public fiesta.

Arriving to the place I found a small little town, where everybody knows everybody. There were families with children. By families I mean all possible members: kids, dogs, grannies, cleaners, neighbours etc. All big and happy, they way it's supposed to be. I rushed to the center of the fiesta as I was a bit late and found a square with a scene on which different groups of children 3, 5, 7, 12 years old, were performing dances. They had quite good choreography posing to sexy beats of Beyonce and Usher.

The program continued with a performance of Brazilian campoeira following by "Karoli", a comic acrobat who entertained grown ups as mush as kids. He demonstrated the skills on going by bicycles of different sizes including one which looked like a bike for a Barbie.

During the break I walked around the square and watched different entertainments for kids and ate some kind of potato-salamis with sugar on. Had to try it because everyone else did so. Was not disappointed!

The evening surprised with phenomenal Jazz concert by "Eivissa Jazz big Band" and fireworks in a class á la New Years Eve. I recognised two men in the band. They play jazz and blues anthems every Thursday and Sunday in Can Pou Bar in Ibiza Town 22 - 01. I highly recommend to go there if you want to listen to quality music surrounded with nice atmosphere.

Accommodation

Not to risk too much I booked my fist 4 nights in Ibiza in Jet Apartments in Playa d´en Bossa, very busy touristic place in summers where. Booked it threw Booking.com and got very good offer for 28 euros per night for a double room. The normal price here is 50 euros and up.

I was surprised by the size of the apartment. It was about 50 square meters with a bedroom for 2 plus 2 big sofas for another 2 people in the living room. So 4 people could easily share it and it would cost 7 euros in my case and 12,5 normally. It was clean and had medium big terrace with view partly on the beach and partly on the mountains. If you are 6 to 8 people you can get much bigger room with only sea view for 80 euros per night. The stuff at the desk is English speaking and are service minded. You have your own kitchen. They clean and change towels every day. Get things like soap and detergent in supermarket nearby. You have one right beside the entrance of the Jet and one a bit further, which is much cheaper and is located 200m toward club Space.

You also have one Internet Café there and a laundry service. Internet cost 1 euro 1-15 min, 2 euros 15-30 min etc. You can also buy a WiFi code for 3 euros for whole day if you have your own computer with you. Sitting in the room or balcony doesnt get you access to WiFi zone here, I guess the walls are too thick. So you ll have to sit in th cafe or outside on sun beds or beach area. To print costs 0,50 euro per page.
Internet in Ibiza Town is much cheaper.

To find an apartment or room to rent I recommend to buy Ibiza´s newspaper "Diario de Ibiza" and look at the adds there. There you will also find adds for jobs, villas and cars to rent or buy. Of course it is in Spanish and when I was looking for a room I asked for help. You can easily understand the content in one add but when you make a call it´s 50/50 chance that they speak English. In my case they didn´t. I asked a woman at the coffee shop to talk for me and she directed me to the place. The owner was really friendly and we got along right away. The rent in city in 350-400 euros for a room. Playa den Bossa is more expensive.

Intro

I have arrived to Ibiza island just before the Easter holidays, to enjoy the spring and get an early start for the season 2011. The idea of coming here is to explore the beautiful island and get a job here for the summer. Not an easy project for someone who doesn´t speak Spanish but due to big tourism in summers I believe it is possible. My motto here is "Todo es posible, nada es imposible".


With this blogg you have a chance to see the beauty of the island Ibiza threw the eyes of locals and tourists, workers and foreign residents and explore everything that is hiding here. Ibiza island is not so big but even local people get amazed by it every year. Every time you take a car and go for a ride you find new places, new beaches and new caves.
